Dr. Ramez Barsoum is a specialist Dermatologist and a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatology. He completed his specialist training in Queensland, Australia, working across a range of hospitals including Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, Queensland Children’s Hospital and Mater Public Hospital. He has also completed an observership with the Dermatology Department in Med Uni Graz, Austria.
Dr Barsoum graduated from James Cook University with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (Honours), during which he published his honours thesis, a landmark 24-year longitudinal study of childhood predictors of melanoma risk. This research garnered media and community attention, featuring on the ABC website and on Channel 9 News.
Dr Barsoum is extensively trained in the assessment and management of hair, skin and nail conditions. He has a particular interest in biologic therapy for eczema and psoriasis, acne, autoimmune and blistering diseases, as well as the surgical management of melanoma, non-melanoma skin cancers and keloid scars.
Dr Barsoum follows in the steps of his esteemed mentors, enthusiastically teaching fellow clinicians and medical students through surgical and medical workshops, and publishing extensively both in recognised peer-reviewed journals and through various publications on patient reference websites.
Outside of work, Dr Barsoum enjoys spending time with his family and friends, exploring the beautiful state of Queensland, and learning to cook new dishes from various cuisines.
